A home for street's kids
The Centre for Children's Happiness is a local organization that provides a safe, clean and loving home for orphaned or abandoned children, many of whom were previously working in horrendous conditions at the Stung Meanchey Municipal Waste Dump on the outskirts of Phnom Penh. Living and working at the dumpsite poses a host of serious risks, especially for children. Malnutrition, disease and drug abuse are rampant and many are subjected to physical or sexual violence and exploitation.
CCH is dedicated to housing, rehabilitating and educating these traumatized children, restoring their fundamental rights, and giving them the tools they need to emerge from the center well adjusted and prepared for the job market.
